Miriad "Miri" Tatsumaki

Miriad's time in the soul society began as it did for most, she found herself in Rukongai walking around aimlessly, only a child at this point, she was upset and confused, her memory was cloudy and she couldn't find her family, hell, she couldn't seem to remember who they were, only blurred faces and memories. So she began wandering, walking for long periods of time with a blank expression. People who lived in the areas she walked through often called her 'The Lost One'. Miri continued this way of living for quite a long time, but finally, one day, she found a young boy around her age, sitting in an alley that she had aimlessly found her way to. Her waved and gave her a weak smile, and greeted her. Finally, for the first time in years, she spoke. It was a simple hello, but it was a large step for her, an emotional gap that she managed to cross.

After that day her life became much less depressing and she began to learn about the world that she had found herself in. She learned of the different districts and of the Gotei 13 and their duties. Through speaking with others, she found the answers to her questions and she obtained a fair understanding of the universe and what went on in it. By this time, Miriad was in her teens and was approaching a point in which she had to make something of herself and after a great deal of thought, she decided to list in the shinigami academy and try her hand at learning there. Learn she did, her knowledge expanded more and she found that the life of a shinigami was appealing to her, it gave a purpose, something she valued and yearned for. During her days in the academy she spent a great deal of time in the library, preferring gaining wisdom and reading about the powers and abilities of shinigami, rather than learning them in a hands on situation. This method seemed to work for her as she progressed quickly, not being the top in her class, but she managed to be one of the more advanced students.

After a period of time, Miri finally graduated from the academy, enlisting into the Gotei 13 and being given a position in the 10th squad. Miriad started from the bottom and slowly worked her way up, but she wasn't exceptionally gifted or anything, so working her way up in rank took a great deal of time. After a great deal of missions and a retarded amount of paperwork, Miri managed to become a seated officer, and even later a 3rd seat. During her time as the 3rd seat of the 10th Squad, she was assigned a mission that changed her, whether for the good or the better remains unsaid. The mission involved putting down a rebellion that was welling up in the rukongai district, she was second in command in the mission, following close behind the lieutenant of her squad at the time. The rebels went down easy, they did things against the law yes, but some of them were only partially caught in the wrongdoings, being blamed for the actions of those around them rather than what they actually did. Miri felt bad about this and spoke up, but the lieutenant explained that if they were left alive, then they would simply breed another rebellion for to avenge the last rebellion and it would just breed a never ending cycle. Miri understood what he meant, but it didn't make it any easier for her to carry out the orders. In the end she let her feelings get the best of her and she put them above her duties, trying to defend some of those she deemed innocent from the others in her squad. The mission was completed either way, but she was faced with consequences upon returning to the barracks. Sadly she was demoted thanks to the lieutenant complaining about her.

After that, she had less duties, but for the most part life continued normally, she worked hard to earn her rank as the 3rd seat back, but she eventually obtained it. After a while the lieutenant of her squad dropped out and finally she was promoted to Lieutenant of the 10th squad. She wore her title proudly, she had earned it, working hard for it over the course of many years, she had aged into a fine young woman, vigorous with youth but mature enough to handle herself well. Even now though, there are many experiences she has yet to have, and many battles to be both lost and won. Her life has only just begun.
